Dark Pictures: Service Hatch
So we spent a long time making the whole interior of the ship as accurately as we could within the gameplay and story requirements. This is the gantries section, an example of one of the scenes I worked on . All of this is made from a modular kit of parts for all assets in the scene. I made the walls in Maya and Substance and used a shader that David Nicholls (shriken.artstation.com) created that has a world offset with masked layers that I created using Substance Painter and also has an underlying bake so that it can be tiled and look different wherever you place it. It also has extra vertex painting for dirt and dust which also works with the world offset. Massive bang for your buck with tiling maps.
